The Tivoli is an amusement park in the middle of Copenhagen. One of the oldest in the world, built in 1894 (I think?).

They let me go in the fun house even though I'm big!!!! It was a riot.

Beautiful flowers and fountains everywhere. It was the PRETTIEST amusement park I've been to!

From Landskrona I took the train to Copenhagen. Again, everyone speaks English…. you would think it was their mother tongue, they speak it that well. They tell me it’s because in addition to learning it in school, they do not translate the English media. I looked at their TV, and about half of the programs are in English.

Copenhagen, like so many European cities, has a wonderful blend of the old and the new. Rich old palaces, around the corner from McDonalds.

I spent one night at a hostel, took a bus tour of the city, went to the Tivoli, saw an English movie…. then I was welcomed at the house of Rasmus, Karin and their son Marcus (Rasmus is the cousin of Will and Ingrid, family friends). They are such nice people! They have made me feel welcome in their home. Tomorrow we are going to explore Copenhagen together. I enjoy their company and I feel happy to have met such kind people!!!

Leaving the group….. the first real challenge of this adventure. I miss them! I took the train from Paris to a lovely town called Cochem, back in the Rhine Valley. I knew I would feel comfortable there…. and I was not disappointed! I spent 3 days in a friendly hotel, ate lots of pretzels, visited the castle and generally relaxed. I met a very nice old couple from Amsterdam who made my day with their friendliness!

From Cochem I flew to Sweden! I spent one night in a town called Landskrona. Again no photos….

It’s true what they say about Swedish design and efficiency, it is something to behold. And EVERYONE speaks English!

I’m not kidding, this place is utopia. Switzerland, I can’t get over you!

You'll notice how clean the streets are.... it was like this everywhere.

The hotel in Lucerne had the best….. everything. Food, cleanliness, friendliness. Top notch.

This is where my photo journey of the Contiki tour stops…. I didn’t even take my camera with me in Paris. It was nice…. but it didn’t stand much chance after the Swiss alps. I particularly enjoyed speaking French all the time though. A group of us had a true French dinner in Montmartre…. before joining the others and dancing! (BTW guys please send me photos!)
